Information and Referral Service

We are a local neighbourhood centre in the Townsville Northern Beaches area. A part of a network of diverse community-led, place-based, organisations that build vibrant, inclusive, and cohesive communities.

We can provide information, referral and support to the community.

Locals helping locals, our team are equipped with local knowledge to help you with your enquiry.

Community Programs and Events

Notch has a wide range of free regular community programs and events. Whether it’s gathering together to enjoy a community meal at our monthly community BBQs, throwing the doors open for our annual Notch Open Day or supporting community during our ongoing Christmas Appeal there is always something coming up at Notch. Follow our social media for updates on how you can participate.

Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, the "Notch Op Shop" provides a choice of bespoke fashions and eclectic homewares saving you many dollars.

A true, local charity, Notch relies on the support of our hardworking volunteer teams to accept donations, sort and supply our little op shop at the Notch centre. If you love a bargain, or fossicking through a rack of clothes hunting for hidden gems, then the Top Notch Op Shop is for you!

Think traditional op shop (& traditional prices), allow enough time to hunt through the racks for the many treasures you’re sure to find.

Local Makers Range: There is one special rack in the shop that you must come and see, reserved only for locally handmade items. Need a gift? Save yourself a trip to town and check our local makers range first.

You’ll be supporting a local small business, and it will be that much more charming as it’s made with love, locally.

Playgroup

Notch offers the provision of customised weekly free to attend playgroup sessions throughout the Northern Beaches of Townsville with a focus on both parental and child support, connection and community engagement.

Community Garden

Notch has a vibrant established Community Garden located on site as we cultivate/harvest fresh food for the community. Food produced will go into our community food programs that support locals with the cost of living.

Community Support Programs

An unexpected crisis or life event, need support with paying a bill then Notch has an Emergency Relief funded program. Food Programs provide support to those experiencing food insecurity to combat the cost of living.

Social Isolation & Loneliness Project

Our "Place to Belong" Program tackles social isolation and loneliness in community by fostering connection though social opportunities thanks to our events, social groups and social prescribing service. Free to participate and open to all we'd love to connect with more of the Townsville community who would benefit from our program.

Disaster Servicing

Based on our experiences of the 2019 and 2025 Townsville floods, the covid pandemic and various cyclone events we have now set up Notch as a Disaster Recovery Hub for the Northern Beaches focusing on disaster preparedness, response and resilience.
